ISS Mediclean ramp up lean programme at Imperial College Hospital Trust London
ISS Mediclean have now rolled out the next phase of their Lean initiative at Imperial College Hospital in London. After two very successful activities, based around the domestic and patient catering processes. With the support of the NAC Group, ISS have now identified further areas of their services and processes to apply the "lean" methodology, through their operational staff orientated improvement teams. Driven by the desire to deliver service excellence and a positive patient experience, ISS are committed to the empowerment and the encouragement of staff at all levels to be directly involved in the continuous improvement journey.

Whittington Hospital Trust moves on to next phase of lean activities
Following the very successful Value Stream Mapping activity at Whittington Hospital, improvement teams have now come together to address the "hot spots" or areas of constraint identified. The activities focus on a range of areas and processes involved in the referral of a patient through to treatment and discharge. The improvement teams have been assembled from a wide range of departments and disciplines and work has already begun to prepare for the first of the activities which focuses on Clinic management.

Guys and St Thomas' add Business Improvement Techniques NVQ to their portfolio of work based qualifications
August sees the enrolment of the first cohort of learners working towards their "Business Improvement Techniques level 2 NVQ" at Guys and St Thomas Hospital, London. Working in partnership with the Trusts Training and Development Department, the programme was advertised across the trust. The resulting expressions of interest were extremely high, from areas including Finance, Pathology, CCPU and Facilities management.
